What is Feng Shui?
Hotel De La Mer has such a deep belief in the beneficial effects of an environment designed according to the principles of Feng Shui (pronounced Fung Shway) that it decided to incorporate this theme into the hotel’s name. Adherence to the rules of Feng Shui has resulted in an interior that is calm, soothing, tranquil, comfortable, warm, harmonious and pleasant. But what exactly characterizes this exotic belief system known as Feng Shui? What lies behind the beautiful results? In short, what is Feng Shui?
The name literally means “wind” (feng) and “water” (shui). Feng Shui is a 6,000 year old Chinese discipline of arranging a physical space in a particular way in order to achieve harmonious surroundings. It represents the energetic connection between man and his environment, and draws on the world of nature as its source. Feng Shui may be applied in the everyday design of homes, offices, hotels and any other environment inhabited by people.
The Hotel De La Mer Feng Shui Tel Aviv decided to introduce Feng Shui practice into its design, based on the Chinese compass and the correct usage of materials, colors, theories and symbols, with correct placement of furniture and other elements all blending to promote the positive flow of chi (energy or life force). An environment designed according to Feng Shui principles achieves an overall sense of balance and harmony on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. The resulting space thus enhances the quality of life for anyone occupying it, in all areas of life: sound sleep, focus and concentration, comfort and tranquility, even success in business, romance, family life, health – and beyond.
The benefits of Feng Shui design are accepted and implemented today by many prominent companies, including such world leaders as Orange, Trump Towers in New York, Marks and Spencer, British Airways and more.
Feng Shui Tips Romance: Place a small metal sculpture on the subject of romance, preferably on a circular base with a little red in it, on the west side of a room. Career: Place a tall colored wooden sculpture – either green in color or surrounded by plants – on the east side of the home or garden. Harmony in the family: Place a low clay or plaster sculpture on the south-west side of a room. The figure should preferably be yellow, white or black. Calm and tranquility: Place a glass sculpture of undefined form on the north side of a room. Fame and recognition: Place a purple star or pyramid on the south side of a room. This is even more effective if the star also serves as a candle holder. Enhance the mood with dining table serviette color: white = calm, alertness; black = security; green = vitality; blue = communication; purple = passion; red = romance; silver = formality; orange = warmth.
